On Sunday, September 7, we kick off the new school year with the following schedule:
- 9:30 - Introductions of Classrooms and Teachers / Ministry Overviews
- 10:45 – Worship Service
- 11:45 – An Awesome Potluck Lunch
On September 10, we have a fantastic training opportunity for parents and for all who teach and work with children. We invite you to join us at 5:30 for dinner; followed by a teaching time with Tiger McLuen. Tiger has been working with families, children, and teens for over 3 decades. Currently he leads the “Youth Leadership” with the goal of training those who work with youth and children. He is a phenomenal communicator and you will not want to miss this time. Please sign up in advance so we can plan accordingly for dinner. If you need child care, please contact the church office (507-665-6393). Following the seminar, there will be a brief question-and-answer time as well.
On Sunday September 14, we resume offering two worship services - 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. - with Sunday School in between at 9:40 a.m.
Beginning September 14, there will be an 8-week long class for parents during the Sunday School hour taught by Pastor Mark. We will examine a study of questions teens often have. We will talk about giving our students solid, loving, and Biblical answers.
Family Night on Wednesdays resumes on September 17. Every Wednesday we begin the evening with dinner at 5:30 p.m. Bible studies for adults, Junior High youth group, and Kids for Jesus (our children’s mid-week ministry - KFJ) start at 6:00 p.m. At 7:30 we host our High School youth group. We rotate through chicken dinners, pizza, and meals provided by families whose students are fundraising for youth group trips. You are most welcome to attend. We ask that children under the age of 13 years join their families for dinner. Each week the donations we receive help support these meals.
Each week as you bring your children for Kids for Jesus, we would appreciate it if you could register your children at the welcome table in the foyer. When you come to get your children from KFJ at the end of the night (7:15 p.m.), we ask that you come inside and meet your students in their classrooms each week. This will help us care for children and keep them from running around in the parking lot during heavy traffic times.
Operation Christmas Child is something about which our church is becoming more and more passionate. This year we are increasing our support of Operation Christmas Child by hosting a Wednesday night party during Kids for Jesus so children can build and pack shoeboxes for children around the world in need of the gospel. We would encourage your family to partner with us.
For many years, our midweek children’s ministry (KFJ) lead our Christmas Musical. But this year we are switching things and having an inter-generational Christmas program on December 14, 4:00 p.m. We look forward to sharing details as the time gets closer and practice dates are set.
On behalf of our Christian Education Board,
Pastor Ed Nugent and Pastor Mark Johannesen
