Every fall I send out a large mailing that covers as much of the plans that we have for the upcoming school year as possible. Included in this mailing is a release form for the 2015-16 school years. If your students plan to attend any retreats or events that are off-campus this year, please have them return this to me.
If you are not on my email list and would like to be, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to be added to our weekly text service, please text me at 952-255-9572
This year, we begin our weekly youth ministry on September 16th at 6 pm. Usually, Jr. High youth group is at 6 pm and Sr. High youth group is at 7:30 pm. However, on the 16th, all students are invited to our kickoff night from 6-9pm. I realize some of our high school students help with KFJ at the same time so we will save lots of great moments for them once they arrive at 7:15.
Our theme this year is “LIFE” and my hope is that in all the topics we teach on this year that we point our students towards life found in Christ.
I’ll use the rest of this letter to speak to our schedule, events and any release or registration forms that might be needed for the upcoming year.
Confirmation Classes – If you have yet to sign up for the upcoming school year, please contact me as soon as you can so we can make sure we have enough curriculums. All students and parents are asked to attend the first class on 9/13
Snacks for Youth Group – Each week both age groups are in need of snacks. There is a clipboard located on the table outside my office and we welcome your help in providing snacks
Paintball October 4th - Join us as Oak Hill Church, WOL Church, Bethesda and perhaps a few others play paintball together at XPHERE Paintball in Faribault. The cost is $28 per person and that includes your first 500 paintballs and field play. A gun is included but you can bring your own. Students from the other churches will be sleeping over on Saturday night. If any of our students want to join them, they are welcome. We will be asking some of our parents to help chaperone that time. Included is a release form for this.
Gas Cards and the Gas Station – We have made $10,000 in profit over the last three years selling prepaid gas cards. Be encouraged to take advantage of this. As well, each week students are asked to sign up to staff the gas station table as we sell gas cards. There are multiple openings for this upcoming fall.
Mexico Mission Trip Meeting – We have made a number of digital invitations for this year’s upcoming missions trip to Mexico. If you would like more information, please plan to attend a student/parent meeting on 9/20 after Sunday School. Applications are due 11/1.
CE Training Night – September 9th - (This night is designed for parents, Sunday School teachers and all who help with KFJ and Youth Group) - We are very excited to be bringing Dr. G. David Boyd who is the Founder and Managing Director of EA Resources. David has spent the last sixteen years as a pastor of children, youth, and young adult ministries. David will be sharing with our leaders, parents and teachers on the topic of “how to share your faith with teens and children.”
Here is our schedule
5:30 – Dinner
6:00 – Presentation
7:00 – Q and A
See You At The Pole - For the last 25 years, See You at the Pole has been about one simple act—prayer. SYATP is still about students uniting themselves in prayer before God interceding for their generation. We invite all students to set aside 30 minutes prior to when school begins to gather at their schools flag pole to pray for their school and the world around them
Youth Worship Team Retreat – The Central Region, along with Word of Life Lutheran Brethren Church in LeSueur, MN, is sponsoring a worship leaders retreat at IPOINT this fall. The cost is just $45 per person. During the weekend Professor Brad Pribbenow will lead 5 sessions designed to cover many topics related to worship. Join us as we discuss our theology of worship and as we receive practical helps for worship leaders.
The Skit Guys at Bethel College - We purchased 20 tickets to go see the Skit Guys at Bethel College on November 8th. We will be leaving at 3:30 PM. Please bring a bagged dinner or money for dinner while on the way. The cost is $1 per ticket and they are available by prepaying only. We will return home at 9:30 PM
