I am so ready and looking forward to our upcoming school year and the opportunities it brings for us as we get to share the truth about Jesus in each of these students’ lives. The last few years I’ve approached each school year with a one-word-teaching theme. This year our theme is built on the word CRUX. On our opening night of youth group September 17, we will examine the CRUX and see how it is going to appear throughout the year.
I will use this opportunity to promote something new for this fall on Sunday mornings: For the first eight (8) weeks after Rally Sunday, our High School Sunday School class is going to explore a book called Can I Ask That? Can I Ask That? deals with tough questions that teens are asking but often finding the church not having answers. At the very same time, I am going to be teaching the same material for parents hoping that this generates some conversations at home.
Also, I’ll remind the families of our 7th and 8th grade Confirmation students that Confirmation orientation takes place at 9:30 a.m. on September 7, for all students and parents in the Confirmation classroom (Room 1), which is located next to the youth room.
If you do not receive the weekly emails nor are connected to any of the Facebook pages related to our youth ministry, please email me and ask to be added. I would love to keep you in the youth communication loop. During the year, I typically send three (3) large mailings (like this one) and 5-8 reminder postcard mailings. Also, we have a weekly text messaging service. If you would like to be added to the text messaging service, please text 952-255-9572 and I’ll add you to that service.
If your child still does not have a signed 2014-2015 release form for the new school year, your completing a release form for Word of Life Church would be appreciated.
Please feel free to ask me any questions that you might have.
I will encourage you to attend a big meeting planned for 9/24, 7:30 p.m. We will host a meeting for parents and students interested in the 2015 Youth Convention in Colorado and for our Mexico Mission trip in 2015.
I have so many other things to pass along; but I’m going to let the next page serve you as a list of all the calendar dates of which I’m aware between now and next spring.
Thanks again for the privilege of sharing in the lives of your families. As the year moves along, most of the bigger picture details will come via our youth group blog: http://www.wordoflifelbc.org/youth-blog , the email updates, and the Facebook page which givesmore specific details.
